Jeanette's Rustic, Woodsy Maternity Portraits - San Diego

April 3, 2018

My family and I have not lived in the US very long. In fact, this spring marked all the three years that we have been here. When we first moved, I knew that launching my photography business in a new market and country would be a challenge. So it is a good thing that I love challenges!

I reached out to a number of community groups on Facebook introducing myself and offering portfolio building sessions, particularly for families with brand new babies! A wonderful woman was interested in my services and soon after we were planning their session.

That is how I met Jeanette, Rodney, and little Hunter.

Fast forward to three years later, we kept in touch and they booked numerous sessions to document Hunter's growth and development. He turned out to be a wonderful, curious, kind little boy who is an absolute joy to photograph. He and I are best buds now. He is excited to see me and my camera! (Start them young, I say!). Almost two months ago, Jeanette gave birth to their second child.

But before I get ahead of myself, here are some stunning images from her maternity sessions at Batiquitos Lagoon.

Watching this family grow and being invited to document their biggest milestones has given me so much joy over the years. My favorite part of being a newborn and maternity photographer is witnessing these special occassions!

Hunter is already such an involved big brother! He was loving on his mommy's belly constantly! Also - the parents decided not to find out the gender of their baby. Hunter however keeps saying he is getting a baby sister!

Jeanette absolutely rocked this maroon Ana Brand maternity gown. She looked like a siren in it and the color really popped with her complexion! She got so many compliments from passer-bys on how stunning she looked!

I am so excited to share her home, waterbirth story on the blog next!
